Why There's A Hole On Every Pen Caps? You'll Be Surprised To Know Why

Ever saw a hole at the top of pen caps? Do you know why it's there?

You've probably never given it much attention but its function is beyond your expectation.

This random design feature regulates air pressure or stops ink from drying out. But the most important function was the fact that it reduces the risk of choking deaths.

Though it's weird why would you chew or eat pen caps, whole lot of people has a habit of doing it, and that can lead to lids getting accidentally swallowed and lodged in the wind pipe, with potentially fatal consequences.

By simply adding a larger hole to the top of the lid, pen company BIC increased air flow and the chance that people would still be able to breathe even if that happens - a design feature that, quite literally, saves lives.

Roughly 100 people die in the US each year from choking on pen lids, a number that used to be higher, one report claimed. This lead to other pen manufacturers to followed suit and added larger holes to the top of their pens too.
