Stop Drinking Low-Fat Milk Before It's Too Late

We've all heard the slogans about low-fat milk: It does a body good, it's a natural thing to drink and it builds strong bones. And many people who heard these slogans were urged to drink a few glasses of milk a day because of its health benefits.

It turns out the case for low-fat milk is fairly weak. Although it is a good source of protein, calcium and vitamin D, drinking too much can lead to anemia and may contribute to obesity according to a recent study from Harvard.

David Ludwig, has found low-fat milk is no better than whole milk. This directly contrasts the traditional belief that we should be drinking about three cups of milk a day, and that low-fat milk is the way to go.

Ludwig’s findings explains how low-fat milk fails to fill people up, meaning they simply reach for something else to consume.

Ludwig also states that the sweetened low-fat milks like the chocolate variety kids adore can lead to obesity.

This research was also backed up by findings from fellow Harvard researcher which suggested a link between sugary drinks like chocolate milk to 180,000 worldwide deaths in 2010.

Low-fat milk also acidifies your body’s pH. Your body then attempts to correct this by using the calcium in your bones to neutralize this effect. So, you wind up with a calcium deficit when you drink it.

And bone strength loss is not the only thing you could be facing if you choose to guzzle as much milk as you’re told.

Doctors have linked drinking this milk to iron deficiency (anemia), various allergies, heart disease, sinusitis, skin rashes, acne, diabetes, ear infections.

The idea of consuming low-fat milk or chocolate milk cancels out the whole reasoning for the recommendation in the first place since the fats are simply being replaced with dangerous sugars.

  • For a quick calcium fix, consider the following:

- White beans
- Sardines
- Molasses
- Black-eyed peas
- Almonds
- Kales
