7 Tips On How To Make Your Electricity Bill Lower

A major household expenditure for most of us is our electric bill. And our electricity usage is a great place to start when we’re looking at how to lower our bills.

Lowering our electricity bill doesn't require spending money on green power gadgets or sacrificing your sanity.

With a few simple tricks and minor adjustments to the way you operate your appliances, you can drive your energy costs down.

1. Cook with something smaller than the oven.

You should be  aware that any time you use a toaster oven, electric skillet, slow cooker or microwave, you use less energy.

2. Run your appliances in the evening.

Especially if it's a brutally hot day. These appliances produce heat, it will cause your air conditioning to work harder.

3. Replace your filters.

Clogged air filters often lead to air-conditioning units and other items breaking down. Even if that weren't the case, an unchanged air filter means the air-conditioning unit, dryer or what have you will work harder or run longer, and uses more energy.

4. Use electric fans.

Instead of constantly running the air conditioner, try an electric fan. Even if they're on continuously, they use little electricity as much as a light bulb.

5. Check your refrigerator and freezer temperature.

The ideal refrigerator temperature runs between 37 and 40 degrees, and the ideal freezer reading is 5 degrees. It's also important to keep your refrigerator and freezer full so they do not have to work as hard to stay cold.

6. Do some dusting.

While you're stocking those refrigerator shelves, get out your duster. When the coils underneath or behind the refrigerator are covered with dust, the appliance is working harder.

7. Turn off those you're not using.

Simply unplug these things when you aren’t going to use them for several hours or perhaps even days.
