The navel or commonly called as the belly button is among the hardest areas to clean and since people don’t clean it regularly, a great deal of muck, dirt and grime gathers in there.

Since it's quite deep and the muck sticks to the soft skin, it becomes almost impossible for a person to clean this area. This is why most people wonder how to clean belly button. 

It may seem so innocent that you’re likely to forget about it until you’re faced with an unpleasant smell, infection, or worse. 

The truth is, your belly button can be a breeding ground for dirt, sweat, bacteria, and other funky substances.

How to properly wash your belly button?

Inner (innie belly button):
- Before taking a shower dip the q-tip in a medicinal alcohol and clean thoroughly that area.
- During your shower, dip the q-tip in a shower gel and do the same as before, clean that area completely.
- Wash the belly button with lukewarm water and dry it well with a cotton cloth or a towel.

Outer (outie belly button):
- Moisten the top of the cotton cloth and add some shower gel.
- Clean the belly button, then wash it with lukewarm water and dry it with a towel.
