Stroke happens when your brain isn't getting the blood it needs. Sometimes it develops gradually. But you're more likely to have one or more sudden warning signs.

Knowing the signs and symptoms of a stroke is the first step to ensuring medical help is received immediately.

For each minute a stroke goes untreated and blood flow to the brain continues to be blocked, a person loses about 1.9 million neurons.

This could mean that a person’s speech, movement, memory, and so much more can be affected.

The sooner you get help, the less likely you'll have serious, lasting problems. And the better your chance of recovery.

Here are the sign and symptoms of stroke you should look after to:

- Numbness or weakness in your face, arm, or leg, especially on one side
- Confusion or trouble understanding other people
- Trouble speaking
- Trouble seeing with one or both eyes
- Trouble walking or staying balanced or coordinated
- Dizziness
- Severe headache that comes on for no reason

The FAST method was developed to quickly to check someone for symptoms.

A - Arms: Raise both arms. (If one arm is higher than the other or having a hard time holding one up)
S - Speech: Repeat a short, simple sentence, like "Mary had a little lamb." (If they can't speak up properly or  they are hard to understand)
T - Time: If any of these method doesn't work, caam medical assistance as soon as possible. Don't wait because every minute counts.
