Foreign Cruise Line Company Will Hire 30,000 Filipino Seafarers For The Next 5 Years




Filipinos' reliability and high level of English, coupled with the fact they are willing to accept jobs almost anywhere in the world, have proved a lifeline for many countries in need skilled workers. 

The fact that the country's recent college graduates are either unemployed or working in a job that doesn't require a bachelor's degree, it's clear enough that Great Recession has been a terrible time to be young and hunting for work. 

But worry no more! A great news published by ABS-CBN on January 27 says that a huge cruise line company expressed their desire to hire Filipino seafarers.

Royal Caribbean Cruises based in Miami, Florida, USA which owns atleast 43 massive ships is said to be hiring some 30,000 workers for the next 5 years. 

What's more interesting is that they will set up for the first time a direct hiring center in the Philippines which will provide accessible and easier recruitment process for applicants.

The company emphasizes that there will be no middlemen or manpower agency to be needed for Filipinos wanting to work in the cruise industry.

They made an assurance as well, that despite the global economic slowdown, the cruise industry will manage to continue sailing and further expand to continuously hire more sea-based employees specifically Filipinos which represent the most number in their company.

Our country, which holds 30% out of 1.2 million seafarers all over the world is considered to be the top supplier of maritime officers in different parts of the globe. 

A recent report disclosed that there are 100 maritime academies in the Philippines which produce some 40,000 seafarers annually.
